The UNH Police Department is fortunate to have two specially trained, certified comfort dogs in our ranks. “Charlee” is a yellow lab mix who has been with our department since 2019. She came to our department through partnership with the Hero Pups organization which provided initial training and socialization. Charlee was named by the children at the UNH Child Study and Development Center.

Maggie came to the UNH Police Department in 2021from the Strafford County Sheriff’s Office where she had been trained as a search and rescue K-9. While she may have retained some of her skills, she is wholly dedicated to her new mission as a comfort dog. She is an American Fox Hound and is at home on the College Woods trails as well as adventuring around campus spending time with her Wildcats.
Charlee and Maggie routinely attend campus and community outreach events but are always happy to spend time providing comfort or receiving snuggles and belly scratches. To request Charlee or Maggie at your event, contact Captain Mark Collopy.
